Dr. Kostiuk is a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon as well as a fellowship trained Spine Surgeon. He grew up in the Chicago suburbs and earned his bachelor of arts in Psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2002. Dr. Kostiuk then worked briefly as a laboratory assistant and phlebotomist while attending Northwestern University for his medical school prerequisites and PreHealth Certificate. He received his medical degree from Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009.

Following his orthopedic surgery internship and residency through Midwestern University and Franciscan Health in Chicago and surrounding suburbs, Dr. Kostiuk pursued fellowship training in surgery of the spine at OrthoIndy and Indiana Orthopedic Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

For three and a half years prior to joining Shoreline Orthopaedics, Dr. Kostiuk was in practice in South Haven, Michigan where he started the first Spine Surgery program at South Haven Health System and subsequently Bronson South Haven Hospital. He also served as Chief of Surgery from 2017-2018.

Dr. Kostiuk’s fellowship training focused on operative and nonoperative management of both common and complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal disorders including spinal stenosis, disc herniation, degenerative spinal conditions, spinal deformity, and trauma. He holds a strong belief in the body’s ability to heal itself and conservative spine care, and understands the limitations of surgery for certain spinal conditions. Dr. Kostiuk also strongly believes that in order for the best outcomes and healing after surgery it is important to be well versed in all approaches of spinal surgery. Patients can be confident that when it comes to surgery he will take the least invasive approach possible.

Dr. Kostiuk spends his free time with his wife and three beautiful daughters. He is an avid golfer and enjoys following all sports especially football, baseball, and hockey.
